Schultz Named USA Wrestling's Greco-Roman Wrestler of the Year

Apr 19, 2024

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Sun Devil Wrestling's standout heavyweight Cohlton Schultz has been named USA Wrestling's Greco-Roman Wrestler of the Year, the organization announced Friday.

It's been quite the calendar year for the Parker, Colorado, native Schultz, who balanced both an NCAA schedule with the Sun Devils and his Team USA obligations to keep his Olympic hopes intact.

Back in February at the Pan American Olympic Games Qualifier, Schultz was triumphant in his Greco-Roman 130 kg bracket to qualify the weight for Team USA at the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris. In June 2023, Schultz won his Greco-Roman 130 kg bracket at USA Wrestling's World Team Trials to make his third Senior World Team.

This week, he'll contend for a spot on USA Wrestling's Olympic Team at Team Trials in State College. He'll compete Saturday, awaiting the winner of the challenge tournament in a best-of-three finals series.
