Nakao, Gomez, Ly Lead Beavers On Day Two At Pac-12’s

PULLMAN, Wash. – Raya Nakao, Chayse Gomez and Kyra Ly all fired sub-par rounds to lead the Oregon State women's golf team in the second round of the Pac-12 Championship on Monday.
 
Nakao, a true freshman carded a 3-under 69, while Gomez and Ly both finished the day with a 1-under 71 to pace the team.
 
The Beavers took advantage of the strong play from the trio, posting an even-par score on the day, and sit in ninth place with a 16-over 304-288—592 at the par-72, 6,324-yard Palouse Ridge Golf Club.
 
The final round of the three-day, 54-hole tournament begins at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday and live scoring is available at golfstat.com. Oregon State will start on the 10th hole at 9:10 a.m. and be paired with California and Colorado.
 
The Pac-12 Network will produce a 30-minute highlight recap of the second round that will air on the network at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
 
Nakao had five birdies in the second round, after dropping in three in the opening round, and moved four sports up the leaderboard to a tie for 13th place with an even-par 75-69—144. She now has nine rounds in red figures during the freshman campaign with five of those in the 60's.
 
Ly, a sophomore from Portland, remained in the Top 10 on the individual leaderboard with a 1-under 72-71—143 and is tied for ninth overall. It was the 10th sub-par score this season, after getting three last year, and puts her in position for the fourth career Top 10 finish.
 
Gomez, a fifth-year senior from Yorba Linda, Calif., had four birdies in the second round and is tied for 28th place with a 2-over 75-71—146. The 71 was the 12th round in red figures this season, equaling what she finished with a year ago.
 
Junior Madde Sund has a bounce back day to help the team and sits with a 15-over 82-77—159 through the first two rounds. Rebecca Kim filled in for Kelly Hope and shot an 8-over 80.
 
No. 1 Stanford leads the 11-team event with a 16-under 560, while USC is second with a 10-under 566 and Oregon is third with a 6-under 570. Catherine Park of USC has a four-stroke advantage for the individual title with a 10-under 134.
