Bouchelaghem, Zharyn Named All-Pac-12

May 2, 2024

SEATTLE – Washington's top two singles players, juniors Cesar Bouchelaghem and Dzianis Zharyn, both earned All-Pac-12 Team honors today, as the men's tennis postseason awards were announced by the conference. Bouchelaghem was named to the First Team and Zharyn earned Second Team distinction.

Bouchelaghem (Pallud, France), who played all but two matches at the No. 1 singles spot for the Huskies, is a First Team pick for the first time in his career, after he was a Second Team selection in 2023. He is the first Husky on the All-Pac-12 First Team since his countryman Clement Chidekh in 2022. Bouchelaghem had seven dual singles wins and 10 dual wins in doubles, most of those coming with Zharyn.

Zharyn (Gomel, Belarus) was named to the Second Team for the second year in a row. He had the best singles winning percentage on the squad this season with a 10-6 dual mark, going 8-4 at No. 2 singles, and 2-2 at No. 1 singles. He also played every dual match at the No. 1 doubles position, going 8-7 with Bouchelaghem and 1-3 with Brett Pearson. Zharyn and Bouchelaghem were ranked as high as No. 10 in doubles during the season, and made the ITA Fall National Championship semifinals.

The men's season ended in the Pac-12 Championship quarterfinals last week in Ojai as the team finished with a 9-15 record, but Bouchelaghem and Zharyn heading into their senior seasons will give the Dawgs a great place to start from next year as they transition to the Big Ten.
