Beavs Beat Holy Cross for Massive Resume Win

ITHACA, N.Y. – Oregon State showcased grit and a clutch factor out east, nearly knocking off no. 14 Cornell before defeating no. 20 Holy Cross.
 
The Beavers' win over the Crusaders is a massive resume win for the IRA National Championships. Oregon State also dropped three races to no. 8 Penn.
 
"This weekend defined our season," head coach Gabe Winkler said. "The varsity and JV clutch performances against Holy Cross and giving Cornell a run for their money was exciting to see. These guys have put in a lot of work to get here. And it showed in the racing."
 
The Beavs opened the weekend against the hosts, dropping the Varsity 8 race to Cornell by just over three seconds and coming in exactly three seconds behind no. 14 team in the country in the 3V8.
 
OSU followed that performance with a three-second Varsity win over Holy Cross, ranked two spots ahead of the Beavs entering the weekend. The 2V8 squad followed with a gritty 1.4-second victory over HC.
 
Penn knocked off the Beavers in all three races, with an eight-second defeat by the 3V8 the closest OSU got after an emotional victory earlier in the day.
 
UP NEXT
The Pac-12 Championships are slated for Sunday, May 19 in Gold River, Calif. The races will be televised on Pac-12 Network.
