Tatematsu Leads Bears On Day One Of Regional

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Senior Rina Tatematsu led the California women's golf team on day one of the Las Vegas NCAA Regional, carding a 1-over-par 73 to tie for 18th place individually.

The Golden Bears tied for ninth place as a team, posting a team score of 13-over 301.

Tatematsu was steady throughout the day, picking up pars on 15 of 18 holes. She finished with a 1-under on the back nine after closing her day out with a birdie.

Senior Cristina Ochoa ended the opening round with the second-best score on the team at 3-over 75, tying her for 38th place individually. Freshman Constance Fouillet finished one stroke behind Ochoa, carding a 4-over 76 to place 44th.

Making her NCAA Regional debut, sophomore Anna Molloy finished with a 5-over 77. Fellow sophomore Olivia Lee carded an 8-over 80.

Cal will head into Tuesday's second round nine strokes behind fifth-place Baylor. The Bears will tee off on hole 1 tomorrow beginning at 8:55 a.m. PT.
