Gamble Moves Up Seven Spots in Final Day of NCAA Regionals

CLE ELUM, Wash. (May 8, 2024) – Washington State women's golf junior Madelyn Gamble concluded the 2024 NCAA Cle Elum Regionals in a tie for 54th with a three-round score of 19-over, 235 at the par-72, 6,306-yard Tumble Creek Golf Club.

"Madelyn did a great job this week staying patient and focused on the task at hand," said Head Coach Sofie Aagard. "The course was played long in tough weather conditions with cold and strong wind with occasional gusts. There were a lot of things to keep track of and strategize around this course and Madelyn used her skills in a good way. A couple errant shots were costly early on, and she made good adjustments each day to improve on her performances. Highlights of her game included great lag putting with feel for speed on the greens and good scrambling the last round."

Gamble had a strong round three at 4-over, 76 as she was able to move up seven spots on the individual leaderboard on the final day of play. She parred six holes on the back nine to make the turn at 3-over, and after parring 18, she would go on to rattle off eight pars in a row. She recorded just one bogey over her final 10 holes to end the round at 4-over.

"It was a fun experience and I'm proud to represent WSU at the NCAA Regionals," Gamble said. "Playing at this bigger stage is a great experience and I learned a lot about my game that I can take with me to next season and beyond."

Stanford's Rachel Heck won among the individual field with an 8-under score of 208, while the Stanford squad also placed first on the team leaderboard at 17-under, 847.
