Mihm Earns NCAA Scholarship

STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford senior swimmer Rick Mihm has been awarded an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship.

The selection for the one-time non-renewable $10,000 scholarship takes into account, athletics and academic achievements, campus involvement, community service, volunteer activities and leadership.  

Mihm will graduate this spring with a degree in Economics and will use the scholarship as part of his co-term program at Stanford. Mihm is working toward a master's in Public Policy with a concentration in Legal and Regulatory Intervention. Beyond that, Mihm plans on staying in the Bay Area and working in management consulting.

Mihm, a native of Wexford, Pennsylvania, is a three-time NCAA Championships qualifier in the 200-yard and 400-yard individual medley. He ranks No. 5 in Stanford history in the 200 IM (1:42.10) and the 400 IM (3:41.92), and is No. 8 in the 200 butterfly (1:42.32). He will compete in the 200-meter IM and 400-meter IM at the U.S. Olympic Trials in June.

A 2024 Academic All-American, Mihm was part of the Rubenstein-Bing Civic Engagement Program, traveling to Peru as part of the joint service program between Stanford and Duke student-athletes. He also has been involved in Stanford Athletes in Finance, which advises student-athletes to prepare for careers in finance and consulting. 

Because of COVID-19, Mihm has another year of swimming eligibility if he chooses to use it. Mihm said he will wait until after the Olympic Trials before making the decision. 

Mihm is a three-year team captain at Stanford with 11 appearances in finals at the Pac-12 Championships, including a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
