No. 10 Washington Opens Postseason Play at Rancho Santa Fe Regional Monday

May 12, 2024

RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. – The no. 2 seeded Washington men's golf team opens up NCAA Regional play Monday, teeing off at the Rancho Santa Fe Regional at The Farms Golf Club.

The Huskies, ranked No. 10 in the nation, will be facing a stiff test in its attempt to advance to NCAA Championship play, needing a top-5 finish to advance.

"The course is in great shape and it gets some wind too," head coach Alan Murray said. "it will be a championship test for sure. You have to be precise from the tee but you have flexibility in terms of what you can play from the tee.

"Taking driver will get wedge in your hand a lot but it's obviously a little tighter doing that.
There are potentially a lot of irons from tees, but you leave yourself longer shots into the tricky greens."

The two-seeded Huskies are one of four teams ranked inside the Clippd top-25. Pac-12 Champion Arizona State sits atop the group at No. 3, while Oklahoma comes in at No. 16 and Cal sits at No. 22. Oklahoma State is right on the edge at No. 26.

Making its fourth-consecutive NCAA Regional appearance, Washington is looking to advance to the NCAA Championships for the first time since 2015.

The par-70 course at The Farms Golf Club is set at 6,962 yards. The Huskies are well aware of the test they will face to continue the season.

"It is a test that we have seen a number of times this year," Murray said. " It is important to get it in the fairway from the tee and then you need to make sure you keep it on the correct side of the hole with your approach shots."

Washington's lineup for Pac-12 Championships is as follows:

  1. Petr Hruby
  2. Bo Peng
  3. Teddy Lin
  4. Taehoon Song
  5. Finn Koelle
