As the sole Ute to compete Friday night at the Husky Classic, junior Grayson Murphy took the spotlight as she broke the 35 year old school record in the 5000-meter run at the Dempsey Indoor Track in Seattle, Wash.
The Utah track and field team will head to two different meets this Friday and Saturday, Feb. 10-11. The Utah distance runners will travel to Seattle, Washington to compete in the Husky Classic at the Dempsey Indoor Track. Headed to Albuquerque, New Mexico are the Ute sprinters, jumpers, and hurdlers to compete in the Don Kirby Invitational.
The Utah track and field team jumped out to a quick start at the Jackson's Invitational with strong performances including freshman Ann Wingeleth placing first in the long jump, three Utes placing in the top-six in the 3000-meter run, and Holly Stallman recording the fifth fastest time in history in the 60-meter dash preliminaries in Boise, Idaho on Friday.
The Utah women's track and field team is set to compete at the Jackson's Invitational in Boise, Idaho. Hosted by Boise State, the two-day meet will be held this Friday and Saturday, Feb. 3-4, at the Jacksons Indoor Track. Competition for the Utes is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. MT on Friday with the 60-meter dash.
The University of Utah track and field team closed out competition Saturday at the UW Invitational led by juniors Grayson Murphy and Hannah McInturff and freshman Amanda Gehrich, who all cracked into the top-10 all-time indoor records in Utah history.
SEATTLE, Wash. - Junior Shaylen Crook opened competition at the UW Invitational Friday night for the University of Utah track and field team. Crook competed in the 5000-meter run, where she finished the race in a time of 17:41.29. She placed 14th in her heat and 32nd overall at the Dempsey Indoor Track in Seattle, Wash.
