DeHoog, Scambray, Schwan Named All-Americans
Husky seniors Carly DeHoog, Tia Scambray, and Courtney Schwan were all named AVCA All-Americans today, one of the top honors in the sport.
Stanford volleyball represents Pac-12 in NCAA Semifinal
• STANFORD is making its NCAA-record 21st NCAA semifinal appearance, also making it the 33rd time a Pac-12 team has advanced that far. The third-seeded Cardinal are the defending NCAA Champion, having won its seventh crown last season under the direction of then-head coach John Dunning to tie for the most of any program.
• Nine Pac-12 teams received NCAA Tournament bids, the most of any conference in the country. Five of the teams earned top-16 seeds. It marks the 18th-consecutive years at least six tems have earned tournament berths. League teams went 8-1 in the first round this season, eventually advancing five teams to the round of 16. It marked the 18th time at least three Pac-12 teams reached the regional semifinal round.
Huskies Put Four On All-Region Team
Four Huskies were voted to the AVCA All-Pacific North Region Team today, making them eligible for All-America honors.
5 Pac-12 volleyball teams remain in NCAA title hunt
Five Pac-12 teams still remain in the NCAA Women’s Volleyball Tournament, including defending NCAA Champion and third-seeded STANFORD, which hosts a regional this week. The Cardinal takes on Wisconsin in the regional semifinal, while 11th-seeded UTAH makes the familiar trip to face sixth-seeded Texas. It marks the seventh time in the history of the league that five member schools have advanced to the regional semifinal.
Also advancing to the regional semifinals are 10th-seeded USC and 15th-seeded UCLA. They both travel to Gainesville, Fla., for their round of 16 match. Unseeded-COLORADO heads to Lexington, Ky., for the Kentucky Regional after upsetting 12th-seeded Baylor. Pac-12 teams have the potential to face each other in the regional of the Stanford and Florida Regionals.
