Umbach named Scholar-Athlete of the Year

STANFORD's Gray Umbach was named the Pac-12 Men's Swimming and Diving Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the 2015-16 season, the Conference office announced on Tuesday. The award, which is presented in each of the 23 sports the Pac-12 sponsors, was established to honor collegiate student-athletes that are standouts both academically and in their sports discipline.

Another remarkable year for Pac-12 men's swimming and diving

Pac-12 men’s swimming & diving teams had another dominant year in the pool, setting multiple new records while adding to the trophy case with national individual titles. Four teams earned top-16 finishes at the 2016 NCAA Championships with CALIFORNIA who led the way in second place and earned a top-two finish for the seventh-straight year. Pac-12 swimmers and divers collected 46 (17 first-team honorees, 29 second-team honorees). For the sixth-straight year, the CSCAA Division I Men's Swimmer of the Year belongs to a Pac-12 student-athlete.

All-Academic teams announced

Following are the 2016 Pac-12 Conference Swimming & Diving All-Academic teams, announced today by Commissioner Larry Scott. To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and participate in at least half of their team’s scheduled regular season events.
