Pac-12 Tournament upset, Final Four appearance highlights year in women's basketball

The women’s basketball season wrapped up with STANFORD representing the Pac-12 Conference in the NCAA Women’s Final Four in Nashville for the sixth time in seven years. The Cardinal’s appearance in the national semifinal also marked the seventh-consecutive year a Pac-12 team advanced that far. In all, it was one of the most successful seasons for Pac-12 women’s basketball in recent memory with five teams earning NCAA Tournament bids, the most since 2006. League teams went 4-1 in the first round and 7-5 in the Big Dance. An additional four teams also participated in the WNIT, making it the most-ever teams to participate in the postseason in the history of the Pac-12.

Stanford's Ogwumike, UW's Neighbors earn national recognition

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Four Pac-12 individuals received national recognition this week, including STANFORD’s Chiney Ogwumike, who was named a first team All-American by the Associated Press today, and an All-American by the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA), which was announced yesterday. WASHINGTON head coach Mike Neighbors was named a finalist for the WBCA’s Maggie Dixon Division I Rookie Coach of the Year.
