For the first time this season, the Colorado women's lacrosse team will hit the road, heading to Florida for a pair of games. The Buffs will take on No. 16/RV UMass on Friday, Feb. 17, at 11 a.m. Then on Sunday, Feb. 19, CU will take on Stetson with opening draw set for 10 a.m.
What a week it was for all teams and athletes that competed for the Colorado Buffaloes in the second week of February. The women's lacrosse team put together an amazing effort at home to take down the ninth ranked Northwestern Wildcats. Led on defense by senior goalkeeper Paige Soenksen, The Buffs beat a ranked opponent for the first time in school-history. Onto the hardwood, Derrick White and the Colorado men's basketball team put together an amazing two-game stretch and have now won five of their last six games. Paige Soenksen (women's lacrosse) and Derrick White (men's basketball) are this week's CU's Athlete of the Week.
A stretch of six straight goals early in the second half by Canisius, five on free-position shots, was too much for Oregon women's lacrosse to overcome as the Ducks suffered their first loss of the season, 15-11
The awards continue to come in for the Colorado women's lacrosse team as Paige Soenksen and Miranda Stinson were selected the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week, respectively.
The firsts keep coming for the Colorado women's lacrosse team. Just one day after defeating a ranked team for the first time in program history, the Buffaloes have catapulted into the NIKE/USL Division I Women's Top 20 Poll at No. 11 and senior goalkeeper Paige Soenksen was named the Epock/USL Player of the Week.
