Golfers Open In Tie For Seventh At NCAA West Regional

STOCKTON, Calif. — The University of Colorado men's golf team didn't have a spectacular day here Monday, but regardless the Buffaloes are in the thick of things after the completion of the first round of the NCAA West/Stockton Regional.                    Colorado, ranked 42nd in the country, is tied for seventh after posting a 2-over 290 team score, but has two rounds remaining to climb into the top five, as those will advance to the NCAA Championship Finals in two weeks.

Buff Men Ready For NCAA West Regional

STOCKTON, Calif. — The University of Colorado men's golf team arrived here Saturday ahead of the NCAA West Regional with the goal to snap a 15-year drought: getting the Buffaloes back to the NCAA Finals for the first time since 2002.                   The West/Stockton Regional begins Monday, with coach Roy Edwards' team getting in a few practices back home in Boulder around final exams and graduation ceremonies.  With those now behind them, the Buffs can now focus on finishing in the top five of 13 teams competing here, which would earn CU that trip to the NCAA Finals.  Colorado has knocked at that door several times over the past 15 season but hasn't been able to walk through it.

Paul, Macdonald Earn All-Pac 12 Honors

BOULDER — Senior Yannik Paul  and sophomore Ross Macdonald were named to the 22-man All-Pac-12 Men's Golf Team, which was announced by the conference Thursday afternoon.                   Paul garnered first-team honors, the first Buffalo to earn the highest distinction on the team since the Buffaloes joined the Pac-12 in 2011-12.  His brother Jeremy earned second-team mention in both 2014 and 2016, while Ethan Freeman was named honorable mention a year ago.                   Macdonald earned honorable mention honors for this year; both he and Paul tied for second with 12-under 202 scores in last week's Pac-12 Conference Championships outside of Los Angeles.                   "It's a great honor and representative of a special season for Yannik," CU head coach Roy Edwards said.  "The best of the best in college golf make the first-team All-Pac 12 list, and Yannik has put himself in that category.  Ross, by virtue of a special performance at the Pac-12, garnered honorable mention honors, and it's very well deserved."                   The last Buffaloes to have earned first-team all-conference honors came nine seasons ago, when Patrick Grady and Derek Tolan were named first-team All-Big 12.   Grady is currently in his third season as CU's assistant coach.                   Paul and Macdonald will be among the five players representing Colorado in the upcoming NCAA West Regional in Stockton, Calif., May 14-16.  The Buffaloes, runners-up in the Pac-12 this year, are the No. 7 seed in the event.

Golfers Earn Sixth Straight Regional Invite

BOULDER — The University of Colorado men's golf team was invited to the NCAA Championships for the sixth straight season Thursday, as the Buffaloes will participate in the West Regional which begins Monday, May 14, in Stockton, Calif.                  Colorado, ranked No. 42 in the nation (GolfStat; No. 44 Golfweek) is the No. 7 seed in the regional, its second-highest after securing a No. 6 seed last year since the regionals went to six sites in 2009.  The six straight years is the second-most in CU history, trailing only a seven year span (1989-95).

Golfers Battle USC Until The End, Finish Second At Pac-12 Championships

ROLLING HILLS ESTATES, Calif. — The University of Colorado men's golf team huffed and it puffed and almost blew down Southern California's house, but in the end, the Trojans held off the Buffaloes by four strokes to claim the 59th Annual Pac-12 Conference Men's Golf Championships which concluded here Wednesday.
