Edwards Adds O'Loughlin To Golf Program

BOULDER —University of Colorado men's golf coach Roy Edwards has added one more player to his 2017 recruiting class, signing Daniel O'Loughlin, a sophomore-to-be transferring from McNeese State University in Lake Charles, La.         A native of Nottingham, England, O'Loughlin enjoyed quite a successful freshman season in his first year living in the United States.  He earned first-team All-Southland Conference honors (just five players make the team), in addition to being named the SLC's Freshman of the Year.  In helping McNeese State to the SLC title and a third straight berth in the NCAA Championships, he led the team in stroke average with a 73.03 figure, with 17 rounds of par or better (including two in the 60s).         "We are very excited to add Daniel," Edwards said.  "He is highly-regarded as a person and player by multiple people, including his coach at McNeese State, Austin Burk.  He will be a great addition from playing, character, personality, and work ethic standpoints as those are all tremendous assets of our current team.  He had a really nice year at McNeese and we look forward to seeing him work and compete to keep improving.  He has a chance to be a special player."

Golfers End Season With 12th Place Finish In NCAA Central Regional

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The University of Colorado men's golf team rebounded a bit here Wednesday in the final round of the NCAA Central/Purdue Regional, recording the fifth-best score which bumped up the Buffaloes into a 12th-place finish.                   However, only the top five teams advanced to the NCAA Championship Finals in two weeks, thus the season for the 26th-ranked Buffaloes has come to a close.                   No. 17 Nevada-Las Vegas won with an 8-over 872 score, finishing up with an 11-over 299 in the final round, which despite temperatures in the 70s was plagued by winds constant at 15-to-25 and gusting up to 40 miles per hour.  No. 20 Auburn took second, three back at 875, with No. 8 Illinois moving into the top five with an 878 score after turning in the top final round score of 6-over 294.  No, 44 New Mexico, the second round leader, finished fourth (880) after recording the second-highest score Wednesday (22-over 310), with No. 38 and host Purdue claiming the fifth and final spot with an 882 total.

Golfers Continue To Struggle At NCAA Central Regional

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The University of Colorado men's golf team continued to struggle here Tuesday, as the hope going in was for a good second round effort that would bring the Buffaloes back into contention in the NCAA Central/Purdue Regional.

Buff Golfers In 11th At NCAA Central/Purdue Regional

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The University of Colorado men's golf team didn't start here as hoped in the first round of the NCAA Central/Purdue Regional, ending the first round in 11th place.             Colorado, ranked No. 32 in the nation (GolfStat; No. 26 Golfweek) and the No. 6 seed in the 13-team field, started on No. 10 and was even through six holes.  But the Buffaloes went eight straight holes without a birdie while collectively playing those at 14-over (9-over by the eventual scorers).  CU finished the day at 16-over 304.

Golfers Set For NCAA Regional With One Goal In Mind

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The University of Colorado men's golf team arrived here Saturday ahead of the NCAA Championship Regional with one singular goal in mind: advance to the NCAA Finals for the first time since 2002.   The Central/Purdue Regional begins Monday, with coach Roy Edwards' team getting in some practice when it arrived here ahead of a practice round on the Kampen Course at the Birck/Boilermaker Golf Complex, a 7,411-yard, par-72 links-style layout that has been rated one of the top collegiate courses in the nation and one of the most difficult golf courses in Indiana.

Golfers Headed Back To NCAA Championship Regionals For Fifth Straight Year

BOULDER — The University of Colorado men's golf team was invited to the NCAA Championships for the fifth straight season Thursday, as the Buffaloes will participate in the Central/Purdue Regional which begins Monday, May 15, in West Lafayette, Ind.   Colorado, ranked No. 32 in the nation (GolfStat; No. 26 Golfweek) is the No. 6 seed in the field, its highest since the regionals went to six sites in 2009, when the Buffaloes were a No. 7 seed.  The five straight years is the second-most in CU history, trailing only a seven year span (1989-95).
