SAN FRANCISCO - The Conference office announced today Kort Peterson of UCLA was named the Pac-12 Player of the Week and Kevin Ginkel of ARIZONA was tabbed Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week for action between April 25 - May 1.

Peterson (Mountain View, Calif.) started all four games for UCLA this week, one at DH, two in right field and one in left field. The junior went 6-for-17 (.353) with one double, two triples, two runs and 11 RBI. Peterson drove in multiple runs in three of his four games, including a five RBI effort against Utah on Sunday, May 1, which set a new single game career-high for him. He also recorded his first career two triple game on Sunday. Peterson’s strong run production this week moves him into a tie with Sean Bouchard for first on the team in RBI with 31 runs driven in. Peterson also now leads the team in triples, recording four on the year. The honor is the first of Peterson's career and the 61st all-time honor for the Bruins.

For the third time in the last four weeks, an Arizona Wildcat has been named Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week. Ginkel (Lakewood, Calif.) had his most complete performance of the season in Tuesday night’s 8-0 win over rival Arizona State in Phoenix. The junior tossed a two-hit shutout and did not issue a walk while striking out seven in the complete game. Ginkel retired the first 18 Sun Devils he faced, carrying a perfect game into the seventh inning. After giving up his first hit of the night, Ginkel quickly got a strike-him-out, throw-him-out double play to face the minimum 21 batters through seven. After a perfect eighth, Ginkel gave up his second hit of the night, finishing one batter over the minimum. He increased Arizona’s win streak to five games. The righty then tossed 2 2/3 innings in relief Saturday at USC, allowing one run and three hits. He entered in the third inning with two men on and got a double play on his second pitch to end the inning. For the week, Ginkel tossed 11 2/3 innings, allowing just five hits and one run, while striking out seven. He went 1-0 on the week with a 0.77 ERA. This is Ginkel's first-career weekly honor and the 54th all-time pitching honor in program history.

The Wildcats host a three-game series against Oregon State May 6-8 and all three games will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Networks. The Bruins get a break from league play to face Long Beach State tomorrow and then play three against UC Irvine, two at UCLA and one at the Anteaters stadium.
