2014 Pac-12 Spring Football

April 12-May 3

2014 Spring football kickoff

It's been 63 days out of the saddle, but Rick Neuheisel and Mike Yam are back at it bringing you the latest inside info on the 2014 Pac-12 spring football games, plus a little bit of color from their lives, per usual. Catch all of the action for the first round of spring games featuring ColoradoStanford and Arizona Saturday, April 12 on the Pac-12 Networks.

We've also added a new segment for the new season, "Gridiron Lullaby," from our very own Sports Emmy nominee Rick. Every week he'll take over the mic and share a personal coaching story.

This week the dynamic duo were extraordinarily fired up, but we tried to narrow down the moments not to miss.

Moments to listen for:

5:40: Rick explains the importance of how much skill work needs to be crammed into the NCAA allotted 15 spring practices each coach is given.

7:05: Rick explains the difference between "fair" and "fair" in relation to football. "Fair is where you give a blue ribbon to a pig."

8:30 - 15:00: COLORADO – The duo talk expectations for coach Mike MacIntyre, quarterback Sefo Liufau and the big shoes to fill following the departure of outstanding wide receiver Paul Richardson heading into their game Saturday, April 12 at 11 a.m. PT on Pac-12 Networks. We also hear from senior defensive back Jered Bell on what conditioning has been like for the players this year and the "doozy" of a game he's excited for.

13:45: Rick shares his approach to dealing with playing in the altitude as a visiting team at Folsom Field.

15:20 -  22:40: ARIZONA – The odd couple move onto talk surrounding the Arizona Wildcats, discussing everything from the open quarterback position to the high hopes Rich Rod and company hold for receiver Austin Hill who returns this season from a torn ACL last spring. The Wildcats will take the field Saturday, April 12 at 1 p.m. PT on Pac-12 Arizona.

23:00 - 30:00: STANFORD – Last but not least, the two talk about Cardinal underclassmen, including junior offensive guard Joshua Garnett and sophomore tight end Austin Hooper, to watch for who have been waiting for their chance to shine when they take the field at Stanford Stadium this Saturday at 1 p.m. PT on Pac-12 Bay Area.

30:00: The podcast's new segment, "Gridiron Lullaby," debuts with Rick at the helm. The first tale details his first spring at UCLA when he lost both of his top quarterbacks amid a quarterback battle in the second to last spring practice. You'll want to tune in for his theme music and one-of-a-kind storytelling.

39:00: Mike makes Rick pitch him on why he should tune in for the new Pac-12 Networks series "Under Center with Rick Neuheisel" that premieres Wednesday April 16 at 8 p.m. PT, where Rick talks one-on-one with the Pac-12's premiere signal-callers. Rick dishes on some fun facts he discovered about the athletes as well as why he didn't even touch on the subject of the Heisman when he spent time with UCLA's Brett Hundley.

42:30: Mike commemorates the first compliment he claims he's ever received from Rick.
