WALNUT CREEK, Calif. — UTAH sophomore Corrie Lothrop and UCLA junior Vanessa Zamarripa have been awarded Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week and Pac-12 Special Performance of the Week honors, respectively, for the week of Jan. 30-Feb. 5, Commissioner Larry Scott announced today.
Lothrop was a key contributor to Utah’s 197.150-196.950 victory over then-No. 4 ranked Georgia. The Danvers, Mass., native won the all-around with a score of 39.475 and tied for first on the beam with a 9.900. Trailing by a tenth of a point entering the final rotation, Lothrop delivered a career best 9.950 to capture the floor title.
Zamarripa, a junior from O’Fallon, Ill., helped the Bruins beat then-No. 12 Stanford by winning both the vault and uneven bars with scores of 9.950 on each event. The win on vault was her third in five meets this year, and she has scored at least a 9.900 or better on 14 consecutive vaults. Her 9.950 on the bars was the highest score by any Bruin on the event this season. This is the second Special Performance of the Week honor this season for Zamarripa.
