Michael Norman won the men's 400m dash with a school-record time, Kendall Ellis won the women's 400m dash and TeeTee Terry won the women's 60m dash to key a strong first day for the Trojans at the Clemson Tiger Paw Invitational in Clemson, S.C. today (Feb. 9).
USC's No. 4 women's team and No. 15 men's team will be competing against a field which includes Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Louisville, Miami, Mississippi State, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Tennessee, Texas A&M, South Carolina, Virginia and Virginia Tech.
Senior Dominic Smallwood is in his final season competing in the long and triple jumps for the Trojans. Last year, Smallwood set both his long jump and triple jump PRs during the season. He placed second in the triple jump with a PR of 51-8.50/15.76m (+2.8w) at the Pac-12 Championships. He also set his triple jump wind-aided PR of 51-6.50/15.71m (+1.5) to place 14th at the NCAA West Prelims. Olympic gold medal sprinter and two-time NCAA 440-yard dash champion Cliff Bourland, who was the USA's oldest living Olympic gold medalist and USC's oldest surviving Olympic medalist, died on Thursday (Feb. 1) of complications due to pneumonia in Santa Monica, Calif. He was 97.
Dior Hall won the women's 60m hurdles, Ricky Morgan won the men's 400m race and the women's 4x400m team won the Invitational relay race during the final day of action at the Razorback Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark. today (Jan. 27). USC also had four athletes finish in second place in events today.
