USC T&F Holds Annual Out Of The Blocks Banquet

Andre De Grasse, Bryshon Nellum, Leslie Maxie-Dowdell and John and Janine Colich received Heritage Awards and the 2017 team awards were presented  at the annual Out of the Blocks Track & Field Banquet at the Town & Gown on the USC campus yesterday (Dec. 3).

Getting To Know Matthew Katnik

USC team captain and junior thrower Matt Katnik is training for his third season as a Trojan, coming off of a successful sophomore year.  Katnik currently ranks ninth on USC's all-time shot put list for his 11th- place throw at the 2017 USA Track and Field Championships.  He also placed 16th at the 2017 NCAA Championships in the shot put. We took some time to chat with Katnik about his roots in track and field, his new role as a captain, and his dreams for after graduation.

Getting To Know Kyra Constantine

Entering her second season as a sprinter for the Trojans, sophomore Kyra Constantine currently ranks in USC's all-time top 10 in the indoor 400m sprint. She came in sixth at the 2017 Pac-12 championships in the 400m and 13th in the 2017 NCAA prelims in the 400m. We sat down with Constantine to talk about her freshman season and where she hopes to go next.

Getting To Know Mikaela Smith

Junior Mikaela Smith is in her third season of running for the USC Track and Field team. Smith is a distance runner from Fresno, CA, competing in the 800m. Smith has a PR of 2:05.17 which she ran in placing second in the USC-UCLA Dual meet during her sophomore year. Last season, she placed 8th in the Pac-12 Championships and 16th in the NCAA Prelims in the event. She also runs cross country in the fall. Smith currently has the fastest 800m time on Trojan's team and has high aspirations for her future. Here is a Q and A with the junior:

USC T&F Adds 6 Standouts In Early Signing Period

USC Director of Track & Field Caryl Smith Gilbert announced today (Nov. 21) the addition of six standout athletes to the 2018 class during the early signing period.  Among the new recruiting class are Karlee Freeman (throws), Bailey Lear (sprinter), Lanae-Tava Thomas (jumper/sprinter), Breanna Bernard-Joseph (hurdler), Ayden Owens (multi-events) and Nate Patterson (high jumper).
