Andy Phillips collects his own on-side kick
Got an early lead after a pick-six of a top-10 team's Heisman candidate? Sounds like the perfect time for an on-side kick.
That’s what Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham was thinkin’ in the Utes' 30-28 win over No.8 UCLA. Kickoff man Andy Phillips executed the idea to perfection by recovering his own on-side kick. You don’t see that happen every day.
The play was reviewed but the ruling on the field was upheld.
It was a heck of a day for Phillips overall, as the kicker also nailed all three of his field goal attempts, including the game-winner with 34 seconds left.
