After Big 2017, GymDawgs Set Sights Higher For 2018

The 2018 season is set to kick off for the GymDawgs on January 12 at Sacramento State and the team is raring to improve on an impressive 2017.  Washington returns 11 gymnasts from last year's team, which finished eighth in the nation, the second-best finish in Washington history.

Get To Know: Madison Copiak

Heading into her second year at Washington, Madison Copiak already has an All-American honor under her belt, winning it thanks to her bars performance at the NCAA Championships in 2017.  Copiak had a high of 9.9 on bars as a freshman and excelled throughout the season, going over 9.8 on the bars at both NCAA Regionals and Nationals.

Get To Know: Malory Rose

Malory Rose continued to grow with a new career high during her sophomore year, putting up a 9.875 against Seattle Pacific on the beam.  It was one of a number of impressive beam performances from Rose, who built on a freshman year that saw her carve out a role in the GymDawgs' rotation.  The Florida native will once again be an integral part of Washington's beam team as the GymDawgs try to work their way into this year's Super Six.

Get To Know: Monica Riley

Monica Riley's second year with the GymDawgs was a memorable one.  Riley put up a 9.875 on vault to set a new personal best, one of three times the Texan went over 9.8 on vault in 2017.  She was a part of the NCAA Nationals lineup for the GymDawgs, helping Washington finish eighth with her performance on vault.  Riley also showed her versatility with a 9.8 on the beam against Cal.
