An integral part of Washington's beam and floor teams, Zoey Schaefer is back for her senior year. Schaefer ended last season with scores of 9.8375 on the beam and 9.8250 on the floor at the NCAA Championships for the GymDawgs, then spent the summer as one of nine interns at the Nike World Headquarters in Portland, Oregon.
The University of Washington gymnastics team announced their 2018 competition schedule on Tuesday, highlighted by eight teams that finished in the top twenty five 2017 final rankings, including four Super Six teams.
Michaela Nelson enters her sophomore year with the GymDawgs ready to shine. Nelson finished her freshman year strong, tying a season-best on the beam with a 9.85 at the Pac-12 Championships, then nearly matching that at the NCAA Regionals with a 9.825. A Maryland native, Nelson will look to keep improving on her beam and bars scores from last year as the Huskies prepare for the 2017-18 season.
ST. LOUIS, Mo. – For the first time in 19 years, the No. 11-ranked Washington gymnastics team will make the trip to NCAA Nationals. The Huskies will compete in Semifinal I on Friday, April 14 at 10 a.m. PT. Washington's Semifinal includes No. 1 Oklahoma, No. 4 Utah, No. 6 UCLA, No. 7 Denver, and No. 12 Oregon State, and will air live on ESPN2.
