Position Preview: Forwards

BOULDER – Colorado returns eight starters overall in 2017, but two of the three positions that need to be filled are at forward after the graduation of Danica Evans and Emily Bruder. The duo combined for 15 goals, helping CU to 15 wins and the second round of the NCAA Tournament, and the Buffs will have to look elsewhere for that production this fall.

Position Preview: Midfielders

BOULDER – Colorado's midfield was undoubtedly one of its strengths a season ago, and barring injuries, should be once again in 2017. The lone loss to the group, however, is a big one as Morgan Stanton was the team's "unsung hero," according to head coach Danny Sanchez, and served as a team captain. But the three returning starters, like Stanton, each started all 22 games in 2016. Sanchez knows finding a replacement for Stanton will be a key to the team's success this fall.

Kornieck Named Preseason All-America

Colorado sophomore Taylor Kornieck has been named preseason second-team All-America by Top Drawer Soccer. She is the first CU soccer player to be named preseason All-America since Nikki Marshall in 2009.

Scheid Brings Experience, Maturity To Buffs

BOULDER – As far as a soccer experience goes, Hannah Scheid has competed at just about every different high level of competition over the past five years, short of playing for a national team. She began her post-high school career in 2013 at Ashford University, an NAIA school in San Diego. After a successful freshman season, however, she moved home to play for her hometown club team in the second division of the Bundesliga in Germany. In 2016, she returned to the United States to be at the highest level of NCAA soccer in the Pac-12 at the University of Colorado.

Position Preview: Defenders

BOULDER – Heading into last season, the Colorado back line looked like it could be thin and a question mark. That assessment was quickly proved wrong as the Buffs boasted one of the top defenses in the country, despite losing two starters to injury midway through the season. That defense led the Buffs to a school-record 15 wins, a tie for second place in the Pac-12, and a postseason run into the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
