Oct. 12, 2000

Corvallis, Ore. - Oregon State University men's basketball player Derek Potter will be sidelined for approximately two weeks with a stress fracture in his left foot, it was announced Thursday by Beaver Head Coach Ritchie McKay.

Potter, a 6'11' freshman center from North Vancouver, B.C., is expected back to full strength and practicing with the team by the end of October. The team officially begins practice Oct. 14 for a 30-game regular season schedule.

Potter is one of two true-freshmen on the roster. He averaged 28 points and 16.1 rebounds last season at Handsworth Secondary School. He was a member of the All-Canadian Team last year, and was a two-time All-Northern Vancouver League selection as a junior and senior.
