No. 7 UCLA Defeats Ducks, 8-0

Oct. 15, 2000

LOS ANGELES - Seventh-ranked UCLA cruised to an 8-0 victory Sunday afternoon over the University of Oregon women's soccer team.

The Bruins (11-1-1, 2-0-1 Pac-10) scored five second-half goals and received two scores along with two assists from Tracey Milburn. UCLA avenged its 2-1 loss to Oregon in 1999.

Bethany Bogart opened up the scoring with an unassisted goal in the 19th minute. Milburn scored next, her first of two goals, in the 20th minute.

UCLA's eight goals and 35 shots marked the most against a Division I opponent in Bruin history.

Chalise Baysa and Melissa Parker each led the Ducks (4-11-0, 1-3-0) with three shot attempts while Molly Stemp and Julie McLellan each had two. Jeanine Norstad replaced starting goalkeeper Sarah Peters (eight saves, three goals allowed in first half) in the second half, recording six saves.

Beth Bowler, Crystal David and T.J. Johnson each did not play for the Ducks because of injury.

The game was Oregon's worst loss in its five-year history.

The Ducks next play host Friday to in-state rival Oregon State at Pape' Field in Eugene. The match begins at 3 p.m.
