Volleyball Player of the Week (10/16/00)

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - UCLA outiside hitter Kristee Porter has been named the Pacific-10 Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for October 10-15, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Porter, a junior from Tyler, Texas, ignited the Bruin attack by posting back-to-back matches with 30+ kills and 20+ digs as UCLA won at No. 6 Arizona and Arizona State. Porter hit .225 with 71 kills (7.1 kpg), 31 errors and 198 attempts, while picking up 47 digs (4.7 dpg) and six blocks over the weekend.
Against Arizona, Porter had 35 kills with 26 digs in the win over the Wildcats, then tallied 36 kills with 21 digs and five blocks in the Arizona State victory.
Porter now has a nation-leading six 30-kill matches this season and 14 for her career. She also ranks first in kills and fifth in digs in the Conference.
This is the fourth weekly honor for Porter, UCLA's 43rd Player of the Week honor all-time.
