Bonnarens Darts Into National Statistical Rankings

Oct. 18, 2000

Oregon State senior setter Brandi Bonnarens has moved into the national volleyball statistical rankings after a strong outing last weekend. Her 13.64 assists per game average ranks 14th in the nation, according to rankings released by the NCAA on Wednesday. Rankings include games through October 15.

Her average also ranks third in the Pacific-10 Conference. A record-setting performance on OSU's trip to the Washington schools helped move her into the national rankings. Bonnarens tied a school record with 82 assists against Washington State on Oct. 13 and followed that up with 80 assists against Washington on Oct. 14. She became the first Beaver setter to record 80+ assists more than once, and she now holds six of the top 10 all-time single-match assists totals at OSU.

The Beavers also moved into the national rankings in two team categories. OSU is ranked ninth in the nation for kills per game (17.41) and is 12th for assists per game (15.64).

OSU is 14-6 overall and 5-4 in the Pac-10. The 5-4 record for the first half of Pac-10 play is OSU's best since 1993. The Beavers open the second half of Pac-10 play when they host Oregon at 7:30 p.m., Friday, October 20 at Gill Coliseum.
