Pullman, Wash. --- The National Golf Coaches Association named Washington State golfers Jenny Ballou and Tasha Browner to their 1999-2000 All-Scholar Team.

Ballou, who won the award for the second straight year, graduated from WSU in 1999 and captained the golf team last spring while working on her master's degree. The Portland, Ore., native maintained a 3.59 GPA in Finance.

Browner, a junior from Tarzana, Calif., was named All-Scholar in her first year of eligibility. She carries a 3.71 GPA in Psychology and was named to the Pac-10 All-Academic team last May.

'Both Jenny and Tasha had a great season on the course last year, and this just goes to show that they were great in the classroom, as well,' Washington State head coach Walt Williams said. 'This is another great honor for our program, and hopefully we can have other players qualify for the award in the coming years.'

To qualify for the National Golf Coaches Association's All-Scholar team, a player must have a GPA of 3.4 or better and be a sophomore, junior, or senior. In addition, the NGCA requires that players compete in 66 percent of their school's scheduled events and be of high moral character.

Ballou and Browner were members of Washington State's 2000 NCAA West Regional team, the first Cougar golf team to qualify for postseason play.
