Men's Tennis Advances To Second Round At ITA Regional Championships

BERKELEY, Calif. -- The men's tennis team came up successful in the first round of play at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Regional Championships in Berkeley, California, despite rain delays postponing action until the late evening. Dillon Ruby defeated Thomas Burgemeister (St. Mary's) 6-2, 6-3. Nick Weiss defeated Jorgen Arnesian (USF) 6-3, 6-4. Michael Rubin defeated Arvind Stokes (St. Mary's) 6-0, 6-1.

In doubles action, Washington duo Marius Lunde and Nick Weiss are slated to take on No. 1 seed Barnes/Kintz of Cal. Also competing in doubles are Jeremy Berman/Matt Hanlin, Dillon Ruby/Ari Strasberg, and Andrej Bizjak/Michael Rubin.

The second round of singles play is scheduled to begin Sunday afternoon, weather permitting. The tournament concludes with championship matches on Tuesday, Oct. 31.
