Jenny Topping Leaves The Washington Softball Team

Nov. 1, 2000

SEATTLE - Sophomore catcher Jenny Topping has decided to leave the Washington softball program citing a difference in academic and athletic philosophies, head coach Teresa Wilson announced today.

Topping, who would have had three years of eligibility remaining, joined the Huskies in 1999, playing only eight games before a knee injury sidelined her for the rest of the season. Last year, Topping earned All-America honors, while leading the team in batting (.438), home runs (24) and RBI (90).

'It is unfortunate that Jenny has decided to leave,' Wilson said. 'We did our best to work through our differences, but weren't able to resolve them. She is a talented player, and I respect her decision and wish her success in the future.'
