Sun Devils Fall In Exhibition Opener

The Arizona State men's basketball team fell to the California Southwest All-Stars 85-77 to open its exhibition season Wednesday night at Wells Fargo Arena.

Sophomore Tommy Smith led ASU with 17 points and 10 boards off the bench, while Awvee Storey posted 16 points and 10 boards.

Former UCLA star Kris Johnson led the All-Stars with 27 points, while Derrick Higgins posted 21 points.

ASU shot just 15-of-28 from the free throw line and had 19 turnovers. Donnell Knight and Chad Prewitt also posted 12 points each for ASU, who now plays a Lithuanian Team on Monday night at 7 p.m.

ASU fell to the All-Stars last year 77-69 to open its exhibition season. Rob Evans is now 3-2 in exhibition games since arriving at ASU. ASU outrebounded the All-Stars 44-33.
