Harvey Records Golden Goal For Women's Soccer

Nov. 5, 2000

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Senior Isabelle Harvey (Cap-Rouge, Quebec, Canada) scored with one second remaining in the first overtime period Sunday as the No. 13 USC Trojans recorded a 1-0 win over the Arizona State Sun Devils in a Pac-10 Conference match. The win more than likely solidifies an NCAA Tournament berth for the Trojans, who now improve to 13-5-2 overall and 5-3-1 in Pac-10 play. The Sun Devils fall to 13-6-1 overall, 4-5 in the Pac-10.

As the countdown to the end of the first overtime period began, freshman Jessica Edwards fed a pass to Harvey, who recorded her eighth goal of the season and third in as many games.

USC goalkeeper Lauren Arase made six saves to improve her record to 9-1-2 on the season and 16-1-2 in her career.

Edwards recorded four shots to set a new school record for shots in a season (93), surpassing the former record held by Maggie Merritt (1992).
