Women's Hoops Falls to Chinese National Team 81-69

TEMPE, Ariz. - Freshman Betsy Boardman scored a game-high 17 points in her Sun Devil debut as the Arizona State women's basketball team fell to the Chinese National Team 81-69 in an exhibition game Sunday night at Wells Fargo Arena.

Boardman went 6-of-9 from the field in the game, hitting three three-pointers. A pair of other Sun Devils also made strong debuts including junior college transfer Cian Carvalho who narrowly missed a double-double with 10 points and a game-best nine rebounds and junior Amanda Levens, who redshirting last year as a transfer from Old Dominion, scored 12 points and grabbed seven rebounds.

The Chinese National Team led for most of the game, building a 42-29 lead at halftime and extending their lead to 43-66 eight minutes into the second half. The Sun Devils closed the gap in the second half, ending the game on 8-0 run. The Chinese squad shot 54.8 percent from the field in the game compared to the Sun Devils' 32.1 percent peformance.

The Sun Devils complete the exhibition season with a game vs. Cassovia Bardejov (Slovakia) Saturday, Nov. 11 at Wells Fargo Arena at 7 p.m. ASU opens the regular season with a pair of games at Wells Fargo Arena the following weekend, taking on Texas-San Antonio Friday, Nov. 18 at 7 p.m. and South Florida Saturday, Nov. 19 at 1 p.m.
