Media Select Women's Basketball Second; Wolvert Preseason All-Pac-10

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Media who cover Pac-10 women's basketball predicted a second-place finish for the University of Oregon.

Stanford was picked first, garnering 16 first-place votes for a total of 187 points. The Ducks received the only other first-place votes (three) and ended up with 161 points.

In addition, Oregon senior forward Angelina Wolvert earned preseason All-Pac-10 honors along with Jamie Carey (Stanford), Megan Franza (Washington), Carolyn Moos (Stanford) and Felicia Ragland (Oregon State).

Oregon won its second straight Pac-10 championship last season after going 14-4 in the conference. The Ducks, who return 10 letterwinners and three starters, finished 23-8 a year ago after losing in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

The Ducks also were picked second last year in the Pac-10 media poll.
