Oregon Men's Golf Team Finishes In Eighth After Day One Of Prestige

The Oregon's men's golf team finished four strokes above par (292-288--580), finishing in eighth place Monday at the Prestige at Palm Desert, played on the 7,056-yard, par-72 Desert Willow course.

After day one of the Prestige, the top-three individuals were Alex Rodger of Pepperdine, (72-64--136), Stanford's James Lee (69-68--137), and Michael Beard of Pepperdine (69-71-140).

Stanford, with two top-10 finishes and back-to-back team round scores of 282, completed day one in first place, leading the 15-team tournament by only two strokes (564). Pepperdine, shooting a combined score of (287-276) 566, came in second with two top-three finishes. UC-Irvine, finished in third, falling a shot shy of tying Pepperdine (288-279-566).

Leading the Ducks was Senior T.J. Duncan, who finished two rounds in a tie for 21st place, shooting a 74-72-146. Finishing one stroke behind Duncan were teammates Aaron Byers (75-72) and Matt Genovese (76-71), who both shot 147. The Ducks' Chris Carnahan and John Ellis both shot 148, while Brandon Harnden shot 150.

The final round will be held Tuesday morning.
