Nov. 7, 2000

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- California freshman defender Robbie Aylesworth was selected as the Pac-10 Men's Soccer Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 31 - Nov. 6, as announced by Pac-10 Commissioner Tom Hansen.

Aylesworth, a native from Phoenix, Ariz., scored two goals over the weekend in the Bears split over national powers, No. 1 San Jose State and No. 3 Indiana.

Aylesworth's shining moment came in game three of the Cal adidas-Legacy Classic against the two-time defending national champion Indiana. Aylesworth scored the eventual game-winner in the 27th minute of the first half on a header from 5-yards out. Cal eventually won the match, 2-1. He scored his first goal on the weekend against San Jose State on Saturday, in Cal's 3-2 loss.

This is the first weekly honor for Aylesworth, as well as the Cal men's soccer program.

Cal plays its final home match this Friday, against Pac-10 leader Washington, at 1:30 p.m. The Bears then head south, to Los Angeles, to take on UCLA on Sunday, at 2 p.m.
