Men's Tennis Plays Host to First Competition in New Facility

EUGENE, Ore. - This weekend, the University of Oregon men's tennis team plays host to the Duck Classic, the first intercollegiate event in the new indoor Student Tennis Center behind McArthur Court.

The Duck Classic, which includes Pac-10 foe Washington and regional rival Portland, begins Friday at 10:30 a.m.The event features a round-robin format with additional singles and doubles action beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. on Sunday.

The men's tennis squad is coming off one of its best seasons in school history with a final national ranking of No. 59. The Ducks are led by sixth-year coach Chris Russell, who earned Pac-10 Coach of the Year honors in 1999-00.

Admission to the Duck Classic is free.
