ARIZONA - The preseason No. 1 Wildcats make their debut against Chaminade in the Maui Invitational. Arizona has twice played in the Maui Invitational, reaching the championship game both times before losing to Kentucky in 1993 and Duke in 1997. . . Arizona plans to add a third uniform this season. In addition to the white home jerseys and the blue road jerseys, the Cats will also wear red uniforms this season. . . Junior forward Michael Wright needs 70 points to become the 29th player in Arizona history to score 1,000 points.

ARIZONA STATE - The Sun Devils' game with Tulsa marked the earliest start to a season in school history. . . A victory over Southern Utah on Friday, Nov. 17 and the Sun Devils run their home opener win streak to 11 games.

CALIFORNIA - With what is believed to be Cal's earliest start ever (records are incomplete prior to 1945), the Bears get underway with a home game against Mississippi State in the Preseason NIT Mon., Nov. 13. The slate could feature as many as 17 games against teams that advanced to the postseason in 2000. . . Freshman forward Saulius Kuzminskas underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Friday morning. He is expected to miss 4-6 weeks of action.

OREGON - With a victory over Mississippi Valley State on Friday, the Ducks would run their season opening win streak to nine games. Only Stanford has a longer streak among Conference teams at 12 games.

OREGON STATE - The Beavers shot .635 in their exhibition win over Start Bratislava. The OSU starting five shot 23-of-30 (.767) from the field, including a perfect 8-for-8 by senior guard Deaundra Tanner.

STANFORD - Sophomore center Curtis Borchardt sat out the last 11 games of the 2000 season with a stress fracture in his right foot. But, by his performance in Stanford's exhibition win over EA Sports, it looks like he hasn't missed a beat. Borchardt tossed in 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting with 10 rebounds and three blocked shots. Last season, he recorded 42 blocked shots in 20 games (2.1 bpg).

UCLA - Senior guard Earl Watson scored 41 points last week and went over 1,000 career points for his Bruin career. Currently with 1,019 points, he's the 40th Bruin all-time to reach the 1,000 points. . . Sophomore forward Jason Kapono picked up where he left off last season as he hit 11-of-16 three-pointers in the the two games last week.

USC - Senior forward Brian Scalabrine needs 58 points to reach 1,000 points for his career, while senior teammate Jeff Trepagnier needs 61 points to reach the 1,000 point plateau. . . Freshman guard Desmon Farmer turned in a stellar performance in his Trojan debut with 26 points on 10-of-14 shooting, 5-of-7 from three-point range, and seven rebounds in a 108-88 win over the Double Pump Cal West All-Stars.

WASHINGTON - The Huskies are the final Pac-10 team to get the season underway as their season opener is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 21 vs. Texas-El Paso.
