Baseball Announces Signings Of Nine Student-Athletes To Letters Of Intent To Attend Stanford In 2001-2002

Nov. 14, 2000

Stanford, Calif. - The Stanford baseball program has announced the signings of nine student-athletes to attend Stanford in 2001-2002. All of the players in the incoming group are currently high school student-athletes and are expected to join the Cardinal as freshmen for the 2002 season.

Several members of the group have experience with the U.S. Junior National Team and rank among the nation's Top 100 recruits. The class consists of four pitchers and five position players. Six members currently attend California high schools. Massachusetts, Nevada and Texas are each represented by one player in the group.

'We are very pleased with this recruiting class,' said Stanford head coach Mark Marquess. 'It's one of the best recruiting classes we've ever had, and we were able to fill our needs both on the mound and in the field. Many of these players will have an opportunity to contribute immediately to our program.'

Stanford begins its 2001 season by travelling to Cal Poly on Sunday, January 21. The Cardinal open its 2001 home campaign by hosting Fresno State for a three-game series January 26-28.
