Hi John. Which NFL team would you like to play for and can you tell us any stories about Willie Howard? Also tell him his #1 fan says hi.

Shannon, thank you for your great vote of confidence in thinking I can choose which NFL team I could play for. To be honest not many teams have been banging on my door, but if there are any out there looking for a great long snapper, I am your man. It has been a great privilege for me to watch Willie Howard play these last five years, and I have been fortunate enough to share a locker next to his in the locker room. It is difficult to pick one particular story to tell because there have been so many over the years, but I will make sure to tell him hi for you.

Tom Wong (Los Angeles, CA)
John, it has been interesting watching your play these years. You got your wish, at linebacker for at least a play. And then a sack. What was the feeling, the emotion? Beat Cal, and keep your winning streak alive! Go Cardinal.

To finally get to play at linebacker and realize my dream to play on the defense here at Stanford was one of the most exciting moments in my life. I can remember watching great linebackers, like Coy Gibbs, when my parents would take me to the Stanford football games. I used to go to bed at night pretending that was me out there. I guess I have come a long way since then, and I am very happy that the coaches gave me the chance to get out there.

Freddy Cefalo (Danville, CA)
John, congratulations on being a student athlete at one of the premier academic/athletic universities in the world. What was your biggest thrill (or moment) on the football field while playing at Stanford? Good luck in your final game. I will be there. BEAT CAL

The timing of your question is perfect. If you would have asked me a week ago I would have struggled finding an answer, but now I can look back about six days ago and recall the moment Coach Baer came to me on the sidelines and told me to get warmed up because I was going in. Those words were more exciting to me than hearing that little click before freefall on the drop zone at Great America.

Ken Johnston (Los Gatos, CA)
John, you and Mike Biselli came to Stanford from different high schools in the Reno area. Mike came from Reed High School located in Sparks, Nevada and you came from Reno High School. Did you guys know each other prior to attending Stanford? Your resume says it all, you have been a dependable and consistent snapper. Did you play a defensive position in high school? You looked good on defense against Arizona State. Go Stanford, beat Cal. I'm not just saying it ... just do it! I will be there!

Mike and I actually played against each other my senior year. I will never forget the game because Mike won't let me. It was a close game, but in the end the Raiders came out on top. To make things worse for me, Mike kicked a monster field goal in a howling wind. I vividly remember the kick, it must have started out 10 yards wide to the left, but the wind carried it and when it landed it split the uprights perfectly. It was an amazing kick and probably stood out to the coaches when they recruited him.
