No. 5 Stanford Wins 13th Straight Season Opener

STANFORD, Calif. - Mike McDonald converted a career-best five3-pointers and finished with 19 points as No. 5 Stanford won its 13th straightseason opener with a 100-49 rout of Division II San Francisco State on Sundaynight.

Casey Jacobsen and Curtis Borchardt each scored 14 points for the Cardinal,whose 51-point margin of victory matched the third largest in school history.Stanford won its 13th straight season opener.

DeKeith Walton scored eight of the Gators' first 12 points and was heldscoreless the rest of the way. Jack MacLeod-Romer added 10.

San Francisco State was within 11-5 with 15:56 remaining in the first half,but Stanford reeled off 28 straight points over the next nine minutes to putthe game out of reach.

McDonald scored his 15 points in the first eight minutes of the game.

The Cardinal shot 71 percent from the field in the first half, and 60 forthe game.

Stanford held a 39-5 lead with just under seven minutes left in the firsthalf and led 54-17 at the break.

The Cardinal continued to increase their lead in the second half, scoring 15unanswered points to raise their lead to 82-26. The Cardinal built a 63-pointlead, 97-34, with 3:17 left.

The Gators are 32-159 against Division I teams.
