Men's And Women's Basketball Squads To Hold Two Free Clinics
Nov. 20, 2000
CORVALLIS, Ore. - Oregon State University's men's and women's basketball squads are teaming with the Corvallis Parks & Recreation Department to make the holidays brighter for disadvantaged youths.
The OSU basketball teams will provide a free clinic to youths in grades 3-5 this Tuesday (Nov. 21) as part of the 'Toys for Tots' program. The clinic will run from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in Gill Coliseum. In order to participate, youngsters must bring a new toy that would make a good gift for another youth during the holiday season.
Youth volunteers working with the Parks & Recreation Department will help wrap the gifts as they are brought to the Coliseum. The gifts will then be transported to Corvallis' Vina Moses Center for distribution with holiday gift baskets.
This is the third year that the Beaver women's basketball squad has been a part of the 'Toys for Tots' program while the men's basketball team joins the action for the second year.
A second clinic, designed for youths grades 6-8, is scheduled for Tuesday Nov. 28 and will also be held in Gill Coliseum from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. To sign up in advance, contact the Corvallis Parks & Recreation Department at (541) 766-6918.
