Men's Soccer To Host Illinois-Chicago In 2nd Round Of NCAA Tournament

STANFORD, Calif. - The Stanford men's soccer team, coming off a 4-0 victory over Cal State Fullerton in the first round of the 2000 NCAA Men's College Cup, will host Illinois-Chicago in a Second Round match on Saturday, November 25. Kickoff from New Maloney Field is set for 7:30 p.m.
The Cardinal, seeded No. 3 in the tournament, scored on four of its first seven shots in defeating Fullerton. Senior forward Corey Woolfolk recorded his first career hat trick within the first 20:36 while junior midfielder Derek Shanahan added a first-half goal and two assists. Stanford increased its record to 17-2-1, including 8-1-0 at home.
Illinois-Chicago captured a 1-0 road win at Bradley in the First Round, receiving a goal from Pablo Melgar at the 83:31 mark. The Flames have three players with more than 20 points, led by senior forward Eric Lukin (15 goals, 10 assists, 40 points). Illinois-Chicago, from the Midwestern Collegiate Conference, brings an 18-3-2 record into Saturday's game.
