Nov. 24, 2000

EUGENE, Ore. -- Chris Dukeminier of Eugene's Sheldon High School has signed a national letter of intent to play golf for Oregon next fall.

'I've seen Chris play several times and he has the ability put up some very good numbers,' said Oregon coach Steve Nosler. 'The thing I really like about Chris is that he's only beginning to scratch the surface as far as his potential. He has the raw talent that should be the base for a very successful career.'

Dukeminier was a member of Oregon's Hogan Cup and Junior America's Cup teams. He was the 2000 Oregon Golf Association (OGA) junior tournament champion and finished second at both the1999 and 2000 OGA stroke play championships. He won the 2000 Peter Jacobsen Tournament by shooting a 69-69-138. He was also the 1999 District champion at Sheldon and was named to the 2000 all-District team.

Dukeminier joins North Bend's Kyle Johnson as Nosler's entire 2000-01 recruiting class. Oregon will lose only two seniors, T.J. Duncan and Matt Genovese, off the 2000-01 squad.

'We signed two of the best golfers in the state and I for one am very pleased that we were able to keep these two talented golfers here in Oregon,' Nosler said.
