Oregon Takes Portland State, 84-66

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) - Luke Jackson had a career-high 13 points,all in the second half, as Oregon overcame a sluggish first half tobeat Portland State 84-66 Saturday.

Bryan Bracey and Luke Ridnour added 12 points each for Oregon(3-0), and Jackson finished five of eight from the floor with three3-pointers, and added six rebounds and three assists.

Charles Madison had a career-high 20 points to lead the Vikings(0-2). Donny Wilcher had 11, and Seamus Boxley added 10.

The Ducks opened the second half with a 23-3 run, capped by FloHartenstein's layup to make it 54-25 with 9:54 to play. The teamstraded baskets and free throws down the stretch, with PortlandState using a late eight-point run to pull within 79-64 with 57seconds left.

Jackson, a true freshman from Creswell, hit back-to-back3-pointers near the five-minute mark of the second half, giving theDucks their biggest lead, 71-38, with 4:45 remaining.

The two teams struggled to get into rhythm during a foul-filledfirst half. Oregon was nine-of-28 from the floor with sixthree-pointers, while Portland State shot 29.2 percent and had 15turnovers to just two assists.

Freshman James Davis added a career-high 10 points onthree-of-eight three-point shooting for the Ducks.
