Westbay, Thompson Earn Academic All-Pac-10 Honors

Nov. 28, 2000

UCLA senior midfielder Caleb Westbay (Simi Valley, CA/Royal HS) earned first-team Academic All-Pac-10 men's soccer honors, while sophomore defender Scot Thompson (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA/Trabuco Hills HS) earned honorable mention acclaim.

Westbay, an Economics-Business major with a 3.35 GPA, enjoyed his finest season in 2000, starting 18 of UCLA's 19 games and providing a consistent presence in the midfield. Earlier in the month, he was named to the Pac-10 All-Conference honorable mention team.

Thompson, a Psychology major, ranked fifth on the team in scoring in 2000 with six points on three goals and was a key defender for a Bruin squad that recorded six shutouts on the year. He was also an honorable mention all-conference selection this season.
