No. 5 Cal Men's Swimming in Third After Day One of Texas Invite

AUSTIN, TX - The University of California men's swim team is in third place (201 points) after the first day of the three-day Texas Invitational. Cal trails only host and No. 1 ranked Texas (293) and No. 4 ranked Arizona (226).

A highlight for the Bears was the 200 free relay team of junior Matt Macedo, junior Matt Burny, senior Scott Greenwood and sophomore Anthony Ervin winning the invitational with a time of 1:19.25. Other top swims included Ervin placing second (19.57), Macedo fifth (20.46) and sophomore Frank Uxa eighth (20.59) in the 50 free.

Cal also placed third in the 400 medley relay (3:17.18 Macedo, sophomore Daniel Kim, freshman Fabian Friedrich, Ervin). Juniors Bayani Flores (1:50.17) and Peter Aronsson (1:52.08) were fourth and eighth, respectively, in the 200 IM.
