PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State University women's basketball player Katie Nyseth was selected to the second team of the All American Women's Basketball Farm Team announced Dave Mowitz, Senior Editor of Successful Farming Magazine.
The All American Farm Team is a scholastic program honoring outstanding college athletes who call a farm or ranch a home. All athletes and their parents receive a plaque honoring their selection to the team.
This is the third honor for Nyseth, a 5-3 senior guard from Cheshire, Ore., in the span of a week. Last Friday, she was honored with the 2000 Rutgers University Coca-Cola Classic Scholar Athlete Award. An aspect of the award was a scholarship donation made to WSU in Nyseth's name. In addition, she was an All-Tournament Team selection at the Classic. In two games versus George Washington and Vermont, Nyseth averaged 10 points, five rebounds, 4.5 assists and two steals.
Nyseth is majoring in Biological Systems Engineering and carries a 3.86 GPA. She was honored last year as the College of Agriculture and the Biological Systems Engineering Junior of the Year. In addition she was a 2000 Pacific-10 All-Academic Team selection. As a starter, Nyseth is averaging 7.3 points and 4.3 rebounds in four games this season.
This is the second All American Farm Team honor bestowed to a Cougar athlete. Senior offensive tackle Reed Raymond was a 2000 football first team selection.
