Gonzaga Topples Washington, 86-74

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) - Casey Calvary scored a career-high 29 points and theGonzaga Bulldogs broke the game open with an 11-0 run to start the second halfen route to an 86-74 victory over Washington on Saturday.

Calvary scored nine of the first 11 points in the second half. He finished11-of-20 from the field, including 2-of-4 from 3-point range.

'I got the ball in places where I could score. It was right around thebasket,' Calvary said. 'A couple of lobs really got me going. Once you getstarted, it rolls on from there and gets easier and easier.'

Point guard Blake Stepp, starting in place of the injured Dan Dickau, scored17 points and led Gonzaga with 10 assists. Dickau transferred from Washingtonto Gonzaga.

'I had hoped and thought that he would come through like that,' Gonzagacoach Mark Few said of Stepp. 'He continues to prove himself.'

Washington's Will Perkins tallied his fourth double-double of the season,scoring 18 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Michael Johnson also had 18 pointsfor the Huskies.

Washington led 41-40 at the half.
